MKURABITA emerged a Second Winner on the 2010 United Nations Public Service Award
The Property and Business Formalization Program also known as Mpango wa Kurasimisha Rasilimali na Biashara za Wanyonge Tanzania (MKURABITA) emerged a Second Winner on the 2010 United Nations Public Service Award.
In 2010, the United Nations Public Service Awards are given in the following three categories:
Improving transparency, accountability, and responsiveness in the Public Service;
Improving the delivery of public services; and
Fostering participation in policy-making decisions through innovative mechanisms (e. g. utilizing ICT, participatory budgeting, participatory/ social auditing and monitoring, and others).
MKURABITA emerged the second winner in the category of improving the delivery of public services after presenting a paper titled
“The Management of Sustainable Delivery of Secured Property Rights through Empowerment and Capacity Building of Local Government”.
The 2010 United Nations Public Service Day – Awards Ceremony along with the Forum on “The role of Public Service in Achieving the Millennium Development Goals: Challenges and Best Practices” will be held from 21st to 23rd June 2010 at Auitorio y centro de Convenciones AXA in Barcelona, Spain.
Over 400 participants including the United Nations Under-Secretary- General for Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and several high level government officials around the world are expected to attend.
MKURABITA’s outstanding achievement has demonstrated excellence in serving the public interest. This will further make a significant contribution to the improvement of public administration in Tanzania.
